The fine print
Privacy policy
Last updated October 8, 2026
The Parent Money File is a website based in Ontario, Canada. We collect as little personal information as we can. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices.
What we collect
- If you join our email list or get a free download: your email address and, if you give it, your first name. We use these only to send you the emails you signed up for.
- If you use the contact form: your name, email address, and your message. We use these only to read and, where appropriate, reply to your message.
- When you visit the site: anonymous, aggregate visit statistics, such as which pages are read most. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not use cookies and does not track you across other websites.
We do not ask for, and you should not send us, account numbers, financial details, or health information about you or your parent. Our tools and templates are designed so that anything you type into them stays on your own device.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to run the site:
- Kit stores our email list and sends our emails.
- Formspree delivers contact form messages to us.
- Cloudflare hosts the site and provides the anonymous visit statistics.
Some of these providers store information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws of that country. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
Email and your consent
We only email people who have signed up and confirmed their address. Every email includes our contact information and a one-click unsubscribe link. You can unsubscribe at any time.
How long we keep it
We keep your email address while you're subscribed, and delete it from our list when you unsubscribe. We keep contact form messages only as long as needed to respond.
Your choices
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by contacting us at [email protected]. If you have a concern about how we handle your information, please contact us first. You can also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
